Where is Krasnaya Polyana located?

Krasnaya Polyana is situated in the very beautiful, picturesque Left Talgar Gorge in Almaty mountains, which is famous for its dense coniferous forest, flower meadows, and pastures between the rocky walls of the peaks. Left Talgar is also rich in raspberries, wild strawberries, mushrooms, and medicinal herbs.
The easiest way to get into the gorge from the city is from the Shymbulak Ski Resort, taking the cable car to the Combi-2 station and beginning the descent to the Small Talgar Pass, then down the trail deeper into the gorge.

What is the difficulty of the hike to Krasnaya Polyana in Almaty?

This is a relatively easy hike. The first day, despite being mostly downhill, can be tiring due to a steep, "knee-killing" descent. After overcoming the steep descent, we will walk along the gorge; the path to Krasnaya Polyana along the gorge will take about 1–1.5 hours. Such a hike is generally manageable for a person with average physical fitness, but it's important to consider that you'll be carrying a heavy backpack, and prior mountain hiking experience is desirable.
If you've never hiked in the mountains before, to be more confident in your abilities, start with a one-day hike first; this way, you'll better understand the kind of physical exertion that awaits you.
Distance:
Day 1: 6.2 km, elevation gain of 159 m, elevation loss of 976 m
Day 2: 6.2 km, elevation gain of 976 m, elevation loss of 159 m

Meals during trekking tour in Almaty mountains

Food prepared during a hike is different from food in the city. We usually bring grains to cook on gas stoves. Typically, in the morning we prepare porridge: oatmeal, grain porridge, rice porridge, and we add cookies and tea.
Lunch depends on where we are eating and how much free time we have. In trekking tours, lunch often takes place on the go, so we usually make sandwiches with bread, cheese, and sausage, along with tea and a piece of candy.
For dinner, we usually have enough time to cook, so we typically prepare a side dish of buckwheat or pasta along with sliced beef. Tea and sweets are always included. We only bring vegetables on two-day hikes because they are perishable.
If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please inform your guide, and we will make sure to consider them when planning the menu.
