Where is Terra Glade Located?

Terra Glade is situated in the Prokhodnoye Gorge, which is sometimes mistakenly referred to as the Almarsan Gorge, named after the former sanatorium at the base of the gorge.
From the parking lot near the former Alma-Arasan sanatorium to Terra Glade it is approximately 6 km along mountain trails that lead both uphill and traverse, with river crossings over bridges. The trail is clear and intuitive throughout the entire path. Even if some trails diverge, they generally converge back into a single path.
Above Terra Glade there are also the spring "Witch's spring", Aleshka's Bridge, and Vysotsky Glade.
From Terra, there is a beautiful view of the night city, as well as the peaks Pila (Saw) and Big Almaty Peak.

What is the Difficulty of the Two-Day Hike to Terra in Almaty mountains?

This is a moderate trek. The entire path from the Almarsan parking lot to Terra Glade takes approximately 4 hours (around 6 km), which is manageable for anyone with average physical fitness. However, it's important to consider that you will be carrying a heavy backpack.
If you have never hiked in the mountains before, to be more confident in your abilities, start with a one-day hike. This way, you'll better understand the kind of physical exertion that awaits you.

Meals during trekking tour in Almaty mountains

Food prepared during a hike is different from food in the city. We usually bring grains to cook on gas stoves. Typically, in the morning we prepare porridge: oatmeal, grain porridge, rice porridge, and we add cookies and tea.
Lunch depends on where we are eating and how much free time we have. In trekking tours, lunch often takes place on the go, so we usually make sandwiches with bread, cheese, and sausage, along with tea and a piece of candy.
For dinner, we usually have enough time to cook, so we typically prepare a side dish of buckwheat or pasta along with sliced beef. Tea and sweets are always included. We only bring vegetables on two-day hikes because they are perishable.
If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please inform your guide, and we will make sure to consider them when planning the menu.
