Where is the Sovet Peak located?

Sovetov Peak is a mountain peak on the northern spur of the Tien Shan ridge of the Trans-Ili Alatau , dominating the Bolshaya Almatinka River basin and the Big Almaty Lake . It has a regular pyramidal shape, located between Lokomotiv Peak and Sovetov Pass. Climbing the peak is assigned difficulty category 1B [1] . along the North-Western ridgeThe first ascent was made by climbers of the Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after. Abai D. Tuganbaev, S. Semin, L. Ignatov under the leadership of V. Zimin in August 1938 [2] . The route passed along the northwestern ridge. From the top there are picturesque views of Abai Peak , Amangeldy Peak , Nursultan Peak , Talgar Peak and Ordzhonikidze Peak .Our route will follow a simpler route of difficulty category 1A along the southwestern ridge

What is the difficulty of climbing Sovet Peak?

This is a difficult hike, available for tourists with experience in mountain hiking. It is advisable that you already have ascents, or we can start with simpler routes to Furmanov, Bukreev, Shymbulak peks which are easier. The main danger on the route is rock slides; they require good mountain shoes and some skill to move along the slopes. Also, due to a sharp change in altitude, mountain sickness can occur.

Meals during trekking tour in Almaty mountains

Food prepared during a hike is different from food in the city. We usually bring grains to cook on gas stoves. Typically, in the morning we prepare porridge: oatmeal, grain porridge, rice porridge, and we add cookies and tea.
Lunch depends on where we are eating and how much free time we have. In trekking tours, lunch often takes place on the go, so we usually make sandwiches with bread, cheese, and sausage, along with tea and a piece of candy.
For dinner, we usually have enough time to cook, so we typically prepare a side dish of buckwheat or pasta along with sliced beef. Tea and sweets are always included. We only bring vegetables on two-day hikes because they are perishable.
If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please inform your guide, and we will make sure to consider them when planning the menu.
